First off, I'm alive. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] I just had to take a break from this thing for awhile. This forum is a great place for everyone. I've been on here a long time, back to the days when I was in 7th and 8th grade posting on the old board. Very few of those people are still around Nola stands out the most. What is said on this forum is not like most sports boards. For instance, I post on a Maryland sports board. I can post that my name is Darrell-Dingus Ely and very few if anyone will know me. Here, everybody knows who I am, due to the small size of our communities. Is that a good thing? In some ways yes, I've met alot of friends from this board, I actually live with a fellow forum member now Cuban Wizard. In some ways however it is bad, it's all about how you appear and seem. There are people in every town that feel the same way I do about things but will not put them on the forum cause so and so down the street will find out. I think thats sad, most of you know my situation and what happened. I sat down and thought about everything and came to a few conclusions. One, I'll probably never be able to teach at PV little lone coach due to my opinions. While at the same time hundreds of others have the same viewpoint. I have people come up and tell me they do but cant put it up due to fear of losing their job, hurting their kids, (which I think they are being hurt even more if you dont say anything), and other stuff. I vowed to myself after we lost the state title game in 2004 that I would one day win that game as a coach, depending on what day it is now depends on how I feel about that. I'd like to but really and truly I often wonder if I would be given the opportunity around here. Mainly due to this board. I love this place though, it gives me a place to vent and talk to people about sports. You've got some smart people on here in regards to sports Mega, VTGAL, Biggin, GCDEVIL22, Moonlight, Nola, A_Football_Fan (even though he likes Duke) and others know an unreal amount about different sports. They know the X's and O's and the players.

I really dont understand why many are leaving this place, well yes I do. It's political and religous. This is one of the greatest area's in the world imo and I love living here but at the same time you have some of the most closed minded people I've ever met. It's mainly the older generation, some people my age feel the same way but it gets less and less. You've got people criticizing others for political and religous views when deep down inside who's to say any of us are right. I'm liberal and will never vote for a republican in anything above school board. I dont believe in censorship and believe that for the most part our country is being taken in a direction of brainwashing. Now, most of the people around here disagree with me on that but thats fine, I'm not going to leave a message board because some dude in Pound thats on the LPD Forum doesn't believe in gay rights or that he approves of lesbians kissing each other. Thats absurd, I do agree with some of the points made on here, many people on here are or are becoming closed minded. Honestly, for the last little bit there are very few people's post on here I pay attention to on either the sports or non-sports forum. I guess what I'm saying is I'm all for religon and doing good for kids but grow up, you live your way and I'll live mine. I dont try to force my beliefs down your throats so please dont push yours down mine. This talk of protecting kids is for the birds, evil is in the world people open your eyes. This little sports forum isn't going to corrupt Johny. Johny would have to type in http://www.hostboard.com/LDPforum/ub...&Board=LDP to see two girls kissing each other. Thats awful isn't it but stop and think if he types in http://www.whitehouse.com he'll see fully nude women kissing each other. You have to take the good and the bad of the internet, it's up to the parents to raise their kids and steer them away from wrong. Lets be honest people, what teenage kid isn't going to want to look at pornography? Some people need to wake up and realize the world they live in, I'd rather have them looking at two chicks making out on a sports forum than out having un-protected sex wouldn't you?

I'm off my soapbox for now, I've got to go to another class. I hope the long standing members of this forum keep this thing going, and I know they will. To the old timers who are wanting to leave, I hope you reconsider and realize that this is a message board not life and death. I also urge to check out other sports message boards with non sports forums and check out the dialogue and nature of the boards. Here is the link to the Maryland site I visit. Kids who come here have access to the internet or they would be here first off...They have access to the internet then they have access to the world and all the problems in the world not to mention the access to billions of websites all over the world from different meanings...What I mean by that is they have access to porn, other sites that have cussing involved, and sites that show killing and such just to name a few...This place is calm compared to what they can view on the world wide web...Although we may not all agree if you have a kid and he can access the web anywhere you can bet he/she has seen cuss words, nudity, and other stuff you may not have wish for them to see.

But would you want a 4 or 5 year old seeing nudity or half naked girls? I have a 4 year old son and a 5 year old daughter that I would rather shield away from such stuff atleast untill they are teenagers. Almost always altleast one of them is sitting with me at the pc when I am home and here at work if someone had seen me looking at the pic of the two girls kissing I would be fired for sexual harassment. That is if the person that sees me takes offense to it. Thats just how strict my employer is.

I think what trying to say is know your situation. I mean shoot if I've been trying to find a page before in a totally clean environment, and the pop up monsters show and when I say show, I mean show...well everything.

I think most people know that sometimes even on good sites you might have something not so good.

as far as that goes there are also parental controls, my child's computer has to have a password for sites that I have not approved....but what happens when Johnny comes and sits in daddy's lap while he is talking? But what is considered appropriate? What is considered crude, rude, lude whatever. That seems to be up more to personal opinion than a specific guideline.

I agree a 4,5,6,7,8,9,10 on up shouldn't see this but here's what I was saying can you watch them 24 hrs a day...NO...Do they watch T.V. and have access to the internet and if so then they will see this type stuff is all i'm saying...I wouldn't want my child seeing it either but you cannot watch them 24 hrs a day 7 days a week is what i'm saying so who knows what they see, hear, or watch elsewhere...I know alot don't want to hear this but it happens everyday...I understand they shouldn't hear or see these things but in all honesty you know they are going too.
